Month 1, Day 19.

Today for sketch bet I drew a long-neglected character of mine...

Hello, ladies. It's been far too long.

Aw yeah Blood Raven. <3 Basically was always my second "fursona". If I were a dude, I would want to be like this. (Hell, I want to be like this anyway.)

Month 1, Day 18.

Been getting some commissions with horses in them lately, and I keep realizing I am not very knowledgeable about them. So today I did muscle/skull studies of horse heads. Reffed from an Animal Anatomy Atlas a friend of mine sent me scans from. :3

Month 1, Day 17.

Beautiful vampire men MIGHT AS WELL have butterfly wings too.
(This is the same fellow as the first headshot in my last post yes.)

Month 1, Day 16.

Was doodling in my micro sketchbook today for sketchbetty fun times.

Yarp. :3

Month 1, Day 15.

Purposefully went outside of my comfort zone and did not sketch first, just jumped straight to painting.
This adorable little critter is called a slow loris. About 30 minutes of time spend. Spread, fuzzystatic, and bristle brushes used in Paint Tool SAI.

Month 1, Day 14.

For Fanart Friday, Mere picked that we should all draw Howl from Howl's Moving Castle. I.. am embarrassed to say I have yet to see that film! But here's a quick portrait of him. :)

Month 1, Day 12.

I am toying with dying my hair half and half like this for reals, so I drew it for today.

Also this is day 12 but I am on file #14 for this, the folder I am keeping them in keeps confusing me. Drawing extra bet-drawings for my drawings that I do after work-drawing. I accidentally nothing but drawings in my life.

Month 1, Day 11.

Alright this is after midnight because I was streaming work on a commission until after 1 AM bluh. Too busy drawing to draw. Artist world problems. So, I did two sketchbet things, and I guess technically then yesterday/today will have been my "day off" despite drawing things on it, and I intend to draw a thing for tomorrow/today as well so. Not really but yes. I hope this works okay!

I did some studies of people sitting because sometimes I have trouble with sitting poses. A bit over an hour.

Then a doodle of Ted holding a kitten because yes. 20 minutes? I think.

Alright I am exhausted; SLEEP BECKONS.

Month 1, Day 10.

So the other night I was very tired and silly and arbitrarily drew some butts, and then someone commented how their lady butt was bigger than that... and I assured them mine was too, and we promised to draw our butts. I am a woman of my word, so here is my butt.

Plus a tail for furry intrigue, since the person who commented was a furry and such.

Yes. I am the classiest of ladies.

Month 1, Day 9.

One of the other sketch-betters drew a rose - I can get behind that subject matter, given it's literally my middle name. Inspired me to draw one too. :)

Month 1, Day 8.

I've been designing the other characters that are part of Ted's story. A few days ago I designed Ted's best friend Galen, and as a result have had a much easier time fleshing him out writing-wise. Seeing a character makes them more concrete in my brainmeats, apparently.

So currently I've been working on two girls that Ted meets while at a convention, Sally and Cynthia. When he first meets them they are cosplaying Faith and Buffy from BtVS, which is how I'm drawing them on the left there. Drawing is not done yet, still going to be working into this tonight, but it's almost midnight so I have to post for sketchbet purposes.

Ted goes to the convention in the first place because Galen is trying to convince him to get out more, but as a big green demon thing that can be... problematic. At a comic con, though, Ted just looks like some sort of very elaborate cosplay himself! Social medium for a demon go.

Month 1, Days 6 & 7.

Alright hey! So Thursday I streamed painting commissions until almost 3 AM on Friday and then had other work to do after, and consequently took Thursday as my one-allowed day off. Therefore, I had to draw two different things today!

This is my make-up for Thursday. Well deserved beer after a long week.

Doodled in about 20 minutes, while drinking real beer and awaiting food.
As documented on twitter. Also, I drew these 6 hours ago and tweeted them on technically Friday because I was out of the house and no internet accessible otherwise. Legit. (It's past 2 AM on Saturday now and we just got home.)

Then for #FanartFriday, Waldo Butters from the Dresden Files. Because polka will never, ever die.

Month 1, Day 4.

More of my demon character Ted. Ted's friend Galen left the toilet seats up, causing Ted some severe toilet angst. How could you do that, Galen. Ted entrusted you with the proper use of their bathroom. You monster. :(

It's okay, Galen is one of Ted's best friends eventually and he makes it up to Ted. The error was simply made out of ignorance. You know... in case you were concerned.

1 hour, 20 minutes. I wanted to also paint this buttttt it is late and I am tired.

And now for something completely different.

Ted's epic frown in the bottom left hand corner of my last update lead to a twitter discussion on frowning I am so glad this is happening.

SO LET ME INTRODUCE YOU to the four of us participating in this sketch bet.

Zeek.

Mere.

TJ.

Myself.

Honorary participant:
Lindsey.

Yes good beautiful human beans.

Month 1, Day 3.

Today I decided to do a bit of character study on my accidental demon character, Ted.

I spent over an hour on this, not sure exactly how long.

I spent several hours last night reading some interesting advice on the subject of developing clear story structure, and wound up determining a lot more about Ted as a character. Ted's species is non-gendered. They hop dimensions to the human version of Earth on a regular basis as part of a religious rite in which humans are consumed, and their skins are brought back and worn as status symbols. From an early age, Ted is uninterested in participating, instead sneaking off to spend what time they can watching human sitcoms. Through them Ted becomes fascinated with the female gender. Ted purposefully botches their Coming of Age ceremony, bringing home a rubber costume mask rather than a real human pelt, is expelled from their dimension, and settles down to live on the human-Earth.

His first story arc will center around a murder mystery of sorts, though I won't spoil what I am planning since I want people to... well, read it, theoretically. Look at it. Whatever you properly term experiencing a comic.

Month 1, Day 2.

Was out of the house for a lot of today, so drew in the "Micro" (2.75" x 3.625") sketchbook I keep in my lady bag.

Cuddlefish loves you. <3

Month 1, Day 1: once more, with feeling.

Whoops guess I was mixed up about the start date of our sketch bet. Today is the real first day. That's okay, an extra drawing won't hurt me any.

So here is my offering for today. Definitely going to use this as an excuse for both personal art and studies. Still not super sure what degree of wolf verses greyhound I want in my lurcher character. I need to draw her more and see what I'm comfortable with. 45 minutes of messing around.

Month 1, Day 1.

First day of sketch bet oh dang.

After I finished stream and organized somethings I remembered we were beginning today. So I decided to doodle some grumpy komodo dargons. 20 minutes. I would do a longer one but my wrist hurts from streaming speedpaints all day and I still have more commission things I need to draw tonight blahblah. But it's a beginning. :3

Sketch Bet - Introduction!

Alright so, this is Anya/"Chinny" of http://anyarose.net/ and my main art blog is over at http://redtavern.blogspot.com/ - I know I have about a million and six different blogs now, but a fresh challenge calls for a fresh blog!

I have agreed to participate in a 3 month "Sketch Bet" with three other artists, TJ, Zeek, and Mere. If anyone else would like to participate, go ahead because the drawing more is always a valid life plan.

Rules of the Sketch Bet:

1) Sketch something everyday outside of what you are already working on.
(For me this will mean something unrelated to my commissions, since I already produce art daily for monies.)

2) The art can only be fanart one day per week.

3) Sketch must have at least 15 minutes invested into it.

...and I'm pretty sure that is all there is to it, haha.

Start date will be Friday, May 10th so things will happen then.

EDIT: Additional rules that were decided upon:

4) You can take 1 day off per week, but must post 2 drawings of different subject matter the next day.

5) If you lose the sketch bet you owe the winners a complete commission of their choice.
